BIOGRAPHY

DAVIDE SPADONI

Originally from Italy, Davide Spadoni began his coaching career at the age of 21, choosing to step away from competitive tennis to pursue a global journey in player development. Driven by a passion for the game and a desire to explore different coaching philosophies, Davide moved to London in 2009. There, he spent several years working with players of all ages and abilities, eventually discovering his true calling—developing high-performance juniors and guiding them toward collegiate and professional careers.

During his time in the UK, Davide worked alongside Andy Dowsett, then Director of PTR Great Britain and now founder of System9. This experience helped Davide refine his technical approach, particularly with players aged 4 to 10, deepening his understanding of progressive, age-specific instruction.

In 2017, his commitment to continuous learning led him to the United States, where he trained under renowned coach Steve Smith—founder of The Great Base method and a protégé of tennis pioneers Vic Braden and Dennis Van Der Meer. Immersed in this fact-based system grounded in biomechanics and physical laws, Davide shaped his own coaching philosophy and laid the foundation for what would later become the identity of Spadoni Tennis Academy.

While in the U.S., Davide worked with some of the country’s most promising young talents, including Victor Lilov (former World No. 3 ITF Junior, Wimbledon Boys' Singles finalist 2021, and Orange Bowl U12 champion), and George Goldhoff (USTA Player of the Year 2012, Boys’ 18s National Winter Champion 2013). He was also invited to join Advantage Tennis Academy in Irvine, California—ranked among the top 5 academies in the U.S.—where he contributed to the American program before relocating to Egypt to launch ATA’s second international base.

As Head Coach and Director in Cairo, Davide coached top Egyptian players such as Sandra Samir (former Egypt No. 1, WTA No. 330) and Youssef Hossam (former Egypt No. 2, ATP No. 291), while also mentoring several of the region’s most promising juniors.

In 2020, Davide joined the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca for a brief stint working with elite junior players. Though the COVID-19 pandemic cut this opportunity short, it marked yet another milestone in his global coaching journey.

Later that year, he moved to Dubai, where he was appointed to launch and lead the Mouratoglou Tennis Center at Jumeirah. Tasked with developing its youth program and growing the game regionally, Davide played a key role in positioning the UAE as an emerging hub for competitive tennis.

With years of international experience and a proven track record in high-performance coaching, Davide launched Spadoni Tennis Academy in Dubai—his own vision brought to life. Through a holistic, 360° approach to training, he continues to impact the lives of aspiring players worldwide, blending technical excellence with personal development to shape champions on and off the court.
